Iran espouses unity of action on fighting terrorism

TEHRAN, Feb. 08 (MNA) – Parliament speaker has told former Iraqi oil minister specific countries are delusional about creating enemies out of nothing.

Mr. Ali Larijani received former Iraqi Oil Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi who is visiting Tehran, where they discussed the latest conditions on fight in Mosul against ISIL and other matters of bilateral interest.

Larijani criticized ‘specific countries’ who were delusional on the presence of their enemy, thus effectively blockading road to a synergy of forces to defeat terrorism.

On bilateral ties, Larijani believed both countries enjoyed a high level of relations and should improve further ties; “terrorism is a major issue for Iraq and fighting it requires depth of analysis and seeing the complexities ahead; defeating ISIL definitely requires regional coordination and cooperation,” Larijani told the meeting, a thing he lamented had failed to materialize since countries in the region were fighting the windmills in creating imaginary enemies for themselves, without making references to Saudi Arabia, Iran’s arch-rival in the fight over hegemony in the Middle East.

Mr. Abdul Mahdi for his part believed that Iraqi Army had almost defeated terrorists, reclaiming larger part of the ISIL’s territories; “we believe the longer the fight against ISIL, the more will be the destruction of the terrorist group; the fight will pin them down to a region and will rule out their possible sabotage on other parts of the country,” he told the meeting.

“Iraq’s problems are closely tied to major issues in the region and will definitely require solutions which address regional issues as well,” Abdul Mahdi concluded.
